Here at The People’s Bike our aim has always
been to help young up and coming riders fulfill both their potential and the ambition of competing on the world
famous Mountain Course.
Our “Rising Star” project was introduced in
2017. The aim of this project is to take a newcomer rider or a rider with little experience of the Mountain
Course and to provide them with the support, guidance and stability that we can offer as an established team.
This in turn enables them to learn the course, improve their riding skills and self confidence and ultimately raise
their personal profile within the race paddock as they have the backing of an established and respected
The project provides a 3 year programme for the
selected rider, guiding them through their newcomer year and helping them progress with the continued support and
stability of the team through to year 3. The learning curve for the TT course is between 3 and 5 years, our
“Rising Star” project therefore offers the perfect opportunity for young up and coming riders to progress with no
pressure to the TT if they so choose.
The project was launched in 2017 with Stephen
Parsons being our first Manx newcomer on this project. Stephen or “Trev” as he’s known, finished in
3rd place in the
Newcomers A race. Returning to the team in 2018 Trev then finished in 3rd place in the Junior Manx GP and
2nd place in the Senior
2018 also saw Matt Stevenson join the team
alongside Trev. In the most closely fought Senior Manx GP in years, Matt went on to win the race by 5 seconds
from Trev. A great achievement for the two young riders and best friends and an immensely proud moment for
the team taking the top 2 steps in the Senior race.
For 2019, Trev returns for his
3rd year with the
team. Alongside Trev we will be supporting Nathan Harrison a local Manx rider who has massive
potential. Whilst Nathan will work from his own awning we will be offering some financial support to him and
will promote him as a Peoples Bike sponsored rider.
We are always looking for new up and coming riding talent. If
you would like to be considered as our “Rising Star” for 2020 then please get in
